Day 3 (June 29) Tilghman's island

Today we woke up at 6:30 to find that our food had been ransacked by a crazy marshmallow eating raccoon. After packing up camp by 7:00 we immediately got on the Sigsbee and began our morning routine of preparing to go underway. After getting out of port we began our daily activities by testing the water quality. Something we learned from our fabulous educator Rachel. Once we checked that off of our list we next began to prepare breakfast which consisted of hearty oatmeal and fresh fruit. Following breakfast we learned about water run off pollution and the effects it has on the environment. After our lesson we rallied together and attempted to catch fish off the side of the boat with the trawl line. Instead of pulling in a net full of fish, we received a net full of ctenophores (tiny jelly thingys). After laughing at our failed attempt we all prepared lunch (lunch meat sandwiches on pita bread with fruit),  ate, then got the boat ready to be docked at our next destination ( Tilghman's Island). Here we visited an environmental center and viewed many species of animals that reside in the Chesapeake bay . We found it funny that our RA was totally scared to even come close to the harmless horse shoe crab. Following our tour of the facility we prepped our camp site and started making sloppy joes for dinner. Dinner was delicious. After cleaning up we went down to Blackwalnut Cove and had our evening muster (discussion) as the sun set below the horizon.
